Castelseprio (VA) archeological park - structure
The S. Giovanni monastery in Castelseprio, until recently used as nothing more than an agricultural storage building, was returned to full use as the museum for the exhibition of the remains taken from the archaeological park surrounding it (listed as UNESCO heritage)
The existing structure (church and monastery) was reinforced. A new structure in wood was built in the south west corner of the site, where archaeological artefacts were found, which is fully compatible with existing structures and can be removed if necessary.
The old covering of the medieval baptistery of the S. Giovanni church in Castelseprio, made of a trellis of curved panels, was substituted by a structure in glass and steel. The covering, on a slight incline, is made to withstand all forces through the use of engineering tie rods.
