Castelseprio (VA) archeological park – pedestrian forest path

Castelseprio (VA) archeological park – pedestrian forest path

Previous Next

The archaeological site is located on a morenic hillside, typical of the pre-alpine Lombardy landscape including some oft seen earth movement, “ceppo” local rock featuring locust trees in advanced state of collapse.

This instability is exacerbated by weather phenomenon and the earth’s natural inability to properly drain away water.

Services carried out at the archaeological park and at this site too, focused on creating optimum conditions for drainage of rain water away from the site, only using natural techniques like canals, weirs and poles in wood and stone.

At the foothills of the FAI property, a public walkway was created to connect the archaeological park and to promote the archaeological artefacts found in the nearby forest.

To guarantee pathway stability, run off water needed to be correctly channelled, the pathway had to be reinforced and the archaeological artefacts restored. A fully naturalistic approach was once more undertaken.
