San Pietro castle in Verona
Diagnostic analysis was carried out on the San Pietro castle in Verona to collect all necessary information for the restoration of the complex which had been used as a prison in the past but would become a museum.
Analysis gathered data on metrical and compositional structural elements and the stress factors concerning masonry.
Information was collected through the following operations:
- continuous mechanical coring for masonry make up analysis;
- video probe inspection inside bore holes for identification and dimension analysis of irregularities present in the masonry;
- vault thickness inspection;
- flat jack testing for the determination of masonry stress;
- parallel flat jack testing for masonry deformation analysis.
