Valtellina Cultural District
The Valtellina cultural district project is a long term plan co-financed by the CARIPLO foundation aiming at valorising cultural heritage as a mile stone towards improved economic and social growth of the Lombardy territories. The project involves 85% of the Sondrio province, an area of 2.760 km2, 155.000 people and 65 municipalities with investment of over € 8 million.
Dario Foppoli acted as consultant responsible for the tangible assets of the district, and has been co-ordinating the following Work Packages:
WP 1 creation of "The Route of Terraces" a cultural-touristic pathway; WP 2 Masegra castle in Sondrio, WP 3 Sant'Antonio convent cloister in Morbegno; WP 4 Castles and Palaces of Tirano and its surroundings
He has also managed intangible projects including WP 7 Planned Conservation of heritage and valorisation of archaeological research data and WP 10 Professional training aimed at enhancing the cultural perception of Valtellina landscape.
