“Sociale” theatre in Sondrio - Health & Safety co-ordination

The site had safety issues in terms of:

· its location in the very centre of the city;

· limited space available for equipment installation and loading/unloading;

· careful approach required for demolition and reconstruction of the stage frame, flytower and covering;

· interference arising from the many companies present in the operative space at the same time.

The set up of the building site was extremely challenging due to the location of the theatre in Sondrio city centre, in its main square - piazza Garibaldi – which also features an underground car park making transit even more difficult. No area to set up the site outside the theatre was available meaning that small zones around the location were identified as possible work sites, which would also function as connecting pathways and stockage areas. The various phases of work foresaw the presence of over 50 companies at work on the project meaning a complex system of authorization, delivery, access and operations was necessary.
