"Il Prisma" social craftwork co-operative Tirano (SO)
The project foresaw the creation of a new craft workshop unit in the in the industrial district area of Tirano (SO).
The building would be more than 700 m2 in size, responding to the requirements of the organization and their 40 employees, with the intention of locating its offices and management headquarters there with a metal working workshop also on site.
The building was constructed in prefabricated pillars and beams with the roofing in circular tiles. These were interconnected with fixed skylights in honeycomb polycarbonate giving optimal lighting. Fencing was in prefabricated insulated panels with stone chipped surface and horizontal decorative shutters. Pre-painted aluminium corrugated panels formed the covering.
Special attention was paid to environmental sustainability through the use of energy saving practices giving the building a class C certification, but also through the installation of solar panels and the connection of the site to a biomass heating plant. In so doing, the building’s entire energy consumption was garnered through renewable sources.
