Specialization in rope access for historic and iconic buildings

The technicians of FOPPOLI MORETTA e ASSOCIATI srl have obtained a specialization in rope access and positioning on historic and iconic buildings by participating in a course designed to promote the competent and safe use of rope work techniques, including for securing structures and assessing the deterioration of artistic and monumental heritage.

This is the first course of its kind offered in Italy, and possibly in Europe. It included informational and training activities at the KONG S.p.A. headquarters in Monte Marenzo, as well as practical application of rope access techniques on a historic building, carried out at Palazzo Prinetti in Merate (LC). On Saturday afternoon, participants performed spectacular descents along the external surfaces of the Palazzo Prinetti tower, which allowed them both to apply the knowledge acquired during the first part of the course and to obtain results useful for the subsequent assessment of the building’s overall conservation status. These results were then shared with the parish and the Politecnico di Milano to support further ongoing analyses.
