Overcoming limitations to create opportunities: webinars organized for Latin America

Foppoli Moretta e Associati, assieme a BAC Engineering Consultancy Group, società di ingegneria catalana e SL Ingenieria, con sede a Buenos Aires, ha curato l’organizzazione di due webinar internazionali finalizzati a diffondere la conoscenza dell’applicazione delle tecniche non distruttive sulle opere civili.
Within this framework, the aim was to delve into aspects related to NDT on infrastructure (in particular bridges) and seismic vulnerability assessments, which are currently the two “hottest” topics in civil engineering. The webinars, titled respectively “Aplicaciones de los Ensayos No Destructivos en el estudio structural” and “Prevencion y evaluacion de los efectos causados por terremotos en diferentes estructuras”, were primarily addressed to Spanish-speaking technical professionals.
The initiative received support from the Non-Destructive Testing associations of Italy (AIPnD), Spain (AEND), and Argentina (AAENDE), as well as from the Argentine Committee for Non-Destructive Testing on Civil Structures and Cultural Heritage (CEND). A particularly effective moment was the welcoming session, during which the association presidents expressed the satisfaction of the international NDT community for the creation of these innovative and engaging opportunities for exchange. Greetings were also delivered on behalf of the European Federation for Non-Destructive Testing (EFNDT), chaired by Fermin Gomez Fraile, and the International Atomic Energy Agency, coordinated in the Latin America and Caribbean region by Cesar Belinco.
The two webinars achieved exceptional success, with participants from over 30 countries worldwide, including almost all Latin American nations: more than 400 attendees for the first session and over 500 for the second.
