Diagnostic investigations at the Dugentesco hall in Vercelli

On behalf of the Municipality of Vercelli, a detailed diagnostic survey of the Dugentesco Palace was recently carried out. The building, at the heart of the original Ospedale Maggiore located opposite the Basilica of S. Andrea in Vercelli, has the earliest records dating back to 1224.
The structural characteristics of the building were determined by analyzing the masonry both locally, through single and double flat-jack tests, and extensively, using sonic tests. The behavior of the vaults was assessed through endoscopic inspections and dynamic measurements of tie-rod stresses. The seismic properties of the soil were evaluated using MASW and HVSR tests. Finally, specific investigations were carried out to study the stratigraphy of the plasters.
