Arcari Library in Tirano
17 June 2019
The project “Seismic Improvement of the Arcari Library in Tirano – MigliorArTi” has been completed on behalf of the Municipality of Tirano. Developed under the “At-Risk Cultural Heritage” call funded by the Cariplo Foundation, the project involved the Grana-Pievani building, the adjacent Church of S. Giacomo, and the neighboring agricultural buildings, which currently house the Arcari Civic Library.
As part of a strategy aimed at reducing seismic risk, the project was developed based on a detailed diagnostic analysis to understand the structural behavior of the buildings, assess their vulnerabilities, and increase their safety against seismic events.
Innovative operational approaches were also tested, such as laser-scanning surveys and BIM (Building Information Modelling). The parametric 3D model contains all the design information, will be updated with as-built data, and will allow the preparation of a proper conservation plan for the building’s future management.
