Castelli-Visconti Palace in Canegrate (MI)
The Castelli Visconti Palace is a public owned listed heritage building, but that is currently unused. There is now underway a conservation programme which requires a preliminary assessment of the condition of the building and its seismic hazard.
For this reason, it has been classified as a type 2 - 3rd class of use (buildings which would incur substantial public visiting numbers like schools, theatres, museums etc.) as it is also a listed building. The analysis was carried out under the Italian Seismic Guidelines for heritage Buildings.
The analysis was performed as follows:
- general building inspection and reporting containing surveys of cracks and deformations;
- assessment of static structural safety level;
- assessment of seismic structural safety level.
The structural diagnostic activities necessary to reach sufficient knowledge of the building were also planned, to lay down the following steps of the programme and to undertake steps for structural improvement.
