Assessment of the seismic vulnerability of 5 municipal buildings in Vigevano

The activities were carried out on the following buildings:

• Headquarters of Comunità Socio Sanitaria Annina, AIAS, and Arcomadia Day Center for the Disabled in Vigevano
• "Dante Merlo" Municipal Stadium, covered and uncovered stands
• "Vidari" Primary School (including gym and cafeteria)
• "Bramante" Lower Secondary School
• "Don Milani" Primary and Kindergarten School

The assignment included the following activities:

• Documentary research in the municipal archives and in the historical project documentation archive
• On-site inspections and carrying out the necessary diagnostic investigations to determine the parameters required for the compilation of assessment forms
• Preparation of reports and first- and second-level G.N.D.T. forms, and determination of the corresponding vulnerability index

The on-site activities were carried out through the following procedures:

• Analysis of the available structural documentation
• Visual inspection for cracks and ongoing deterioration
• Geometric verification of the structural components: planned vs. as-built
• Reinforcement surveys using a magnetometer
• Sclerometric tests to check concrete homogeneity
• Videoendoscopic investigations of masonry and floors

The school buildings were analyzed without any interruption of ordinary school activities.

As a summary of the activities, the following forms were completed:

• First-level form for the assessment of exposure and vulnerability of buildings – National Group for Earthquake Defense (G.N.D.T.) – C.N.R – applied to all types of buildings
• Second-level vulnerability form (G.N.D.T.) – masonry buildings
• Second-level vulnerability form – reinforced concrete buildings
