Sondrio railway station pedestrian underpass - analysis
Work was carried out to collect geo-technical and hydrological data concerning soil in the project area and geometric, mechanical and tensile data concerning the building before work began on restructuring.
Geotechnical analysis foresaw the following steps: penetrometric testing with super heavy penetrometers, geo diagnosis with continuous coring with sampling, Standard Penetatrion Test in bore hole (S.P.T.), permeability testing and measurements of aquifer depth through phreatimeter, cataloguing of extracted coring, aquifer depth monitoring with piezometric measurements for over one year.
Mechanical and geometric dimension characterization of the structure foresaw the execution of sub-vertical and horizontal coring in foundation masonry with endoscopic video prospection, the creation of exploration drilling for direct detection of foundations, flat jack testing and parallel flat jack testing. Monitoring was then carried out on the station building and masonry cracking phenomenon data was collected and analyzed.
