Lavizzari Palace in Mazzo Valtellina (SO)

Lavizzari Palace in Mazzo Valtellina (SO)

Previous Next

The building, built and extended in several stages from 16th to 18th century, is split into three separate buildings; the work done concerned the part of the building belonging to the S. Stefano parish, including the frescoed room on the ground floor and the apartment on the first floor. It is a listed building. The building also housed a section built around 1950 which was used as a nursery school, which the owner wished to maintain.

Under set down conditions, work started on the creation of a social-cultural meeting room in the grand hall called “salone degli stemmi”, with the building next to it used as a reception. This makes the management of the space independent from how it is actually laid out. The façade was recovered and valorised with perforated metal sheets, whose design was compatible with the overall context.

The restoration also featured the frescoed great hall (dating from 1543) and the restoration of the apartment on the first floor, which also housed significant frescoes.
