former “Politeama” theatre in Massa Carrara
Diagnosis was carried out to analyse the stress and mechanical characteristics of brickwork masonry pillars inside the building featuring worrying cracking. Single flat jack testing evaluated the level of deformation and the compression strength was evaluated with two parallel flat jacks.
Symmetrical tests on two sides of the pillar were carried out to identify any unbalanced load with full structural integrity being restored at the end of testing.
