Alpini bridge in Bassano del Grappa (VI) – Health & Safety co-ordination

In order to guarantee the highest level of overall integration, the Health & Safety plan was developed from the analysis of possible project interference coming from the working site itself (internal) as well as from the surrounding environment (external). The phases and indeed, sub-phases of the project were identified including their possible risk factors. Particular attention was paid to interference generated through the presence of the multiple contractors on site, a key factor in safety planning.

The bridge is located in a very challenging, highly urbanised position, firstly, it acts as the fundamental pedestrian crossing point between the historical centre of Bassano and the residential area of Angarano, from a touristic perspective, the bridge is the most popular city sight and from a commercial point of view, many business activities are closely situated.

Further difficulty was added through the condition of the river below, meaning on site work needed to be as swift as possible, with the disrepair of the structure requiring urgent structural attention. All of these risk factors were evaluated when drawing up the safety and co-ordination plan.

Due to evident access difficulties and the urgency of implementation, scuba divers and rope work technicians are foreseen to be used for some operations.
