Castelseprio (VA) archeological park- analysis
Analysis aimed at identifying the geometric and mechanical data necessary for static characterization of the masonry of the ruins of S. Giovanni church, S. Giovanni baptistery and S. Paolo church and was carried out as follows: out of axis analysis, sub/vertical and horizontal coring in masonry. To characterise the soil they were performed penetro-metric testing, geo-gnostic surveying with continuous coring, granular analysis and mechanical testing of terrain samples.
Long base strain gauges were installed at elevation on the masonry in the S. Giovanni and S. Paolo churches, which were used to check the variation in distance between counter facing walls and removable strain gauges were installed to check variations in openings on some of the principal cracks in the structure, correlating time and temperature change.
Monitoring carried on for 5 years thus creating a significant database suitable for a statistic analysis.
