MONUMENTEN WATCH ITALY Project

The recognition that regular maintenance can help contain—at lower cost and with reduced use of energy and materials—the progression of building deterioration, particularly in structures exposed to environmental and human-related factors, has been at the core of one of the most significant shifts in the approach to cultural heritage over the past decade, both in Italy and internationally.

The research project aimed to develop and refine activities to address the evolution of the market from one based on one-off restoration interventions to a structured approach focused on prevention and planned maintenance. To this end, an experimental research path was carried out through the selection of real case studies drawn from the market.

The team, bringing together diverse and complementary expertise within a network-based approach, positions itself innovatively within the restoration and diagnostics market—currently largely characterized by individual specialized operators—making the project a valuable opportunity to engage with the themes of planned conservation and to promote the evolution of services towards new market sectors.
