Villa Bonasi Benucci is made up of four distinct buildings: the main building, a rural dependence called “casa colonica”, the greenhouse and the oratory. For each structure a specific inspection was carried out and a survey and structural reinforcement planning drawn up.

The project foresees the reparation of the damages caused by the earthquake of May 20th and 29th 2012.

Structural diagnosis analyzed masonry structures and evaluated the state of degradation of the masonry and wood.

Diagnosis followed the programme below:

·         flat jack for local stress testing on specific masonry points;

·         parallel flat jacks for deformation testing on the masonry;

·         shear tests on masonry performed with flat jacks using the FJ-SCT method (Flat Jack - Shear Compression Test);

·         explorative testing for masonry details;

·         explorative testing for attic construction details;

·         explorative testing for foundation construction details;

·         sonic testing (direct measurement) for the classification of masonry typologies;

·         wooden beam degradation analysis through resistograph.

The project foresees the reparation of earthquake damages and the reinforcement of the building against future seismic activity.

Cracking will be repaired through replacement of damaged elements, masonry reinforcement through GFRP  mesh with lime cement, full grouting renewal, reinforcement of the perimeter masonry will be achieved through inter-connected metallic bars and bracing and the insertion of metal tie-rods. Horizontal stress will be reduced through roofing stiffness reinforcement.
