Canali Mansion in Tovo (SO) restoration and valorisation
The listed building makes up part of the central historical area of Tovo. The building was partly demolished with the rear façade being completely ruined.
The general plan foresaw the public use of the building without losing its original set up. The ground floor would have two communicating squares (one covered the other uncovered) with plenty of social space. The first floor would have a social-cultural function. The reconstruction of the rear facade, which became the focus of the project, was carried out with materials that integrated well into the overall context (glass and wood).
Special attention was paid to environmental sustainability, both in terms of techniques and materials used. Energy consumption was reduced to a minimum through a combination of cost/efficiency/management/sustainability procedures meaning the heritage building could be classified in category C for energy efficiency.
