S. Maria Maddalena church in Bellusco (MI) - diagnostic
The S. Maria Maddalena church within the Camuzzago farming complex in Bellusco (MI) underwent analysis of foundation solidity through direct prospecting and analysis of masonry mechanical characteristics through the use of flat head jacks.
To determine the geometry and lay out of the internal pillars, sub-vertical continuous coring tests were carried out. On masonry structures, horizontal coring was carried out corresponding to lesenes and on one pillar, giving indications on the way the structures were built. On all pillars, an accurate analysis of parameter ashlars was carried out. Flat head jacks tests were carried out to determine stress levels and types of deformation.
The Finite Elements structural model allowed for progress evaluation and was subsequently used for tests in the reinforcement project.
Accelerated ageing and diagnostic prospecting tests were also carried out to analyse the efficacy of the reinforcement operation using injections and stainless steel internal engineering ties in pillars
